Bungie Aware of Halo 3/Crackdown Problem
Do not panic. Do not purposely red ring your 360.

All the folks invited to participate in the Halo 3 multiplayer beta have been given the all-clear to start downloading -- except for the hundreds of thousands who purchased Crackdown. There seems to be an unexplainable hold up preventing Crackdown players from downloading the executable, but Bungie is aware of the issue.
"With any luck this will be a short delay. People enetering [sic] the Beta through other methods - Friends and Family, Rule of Three and so on, are unaffected," wrote Frankie on Bungie.net early this morning. He even threw in a spelling error to let you know how keenly aware he is of the technical hiccups causing forums to explode into complete mania.
Will this be fixed today? Probably. Hopefully. Maybe? If not, this is probably a tempered expectation for the response from the Halo community who took work off today to play:
