PC-Engine- bzw. TurboGrafx-Nutzer dürften sich noch bestens an Bonk erinnern - der glatzköpfige Höhlenmensch gehörte zu den bekanntesten Plattformmaskottchen, machte später aber auch noch andere Systeme unsicher.

Laut Hudsons eigener Webseite steht der dauerhungrige Protagonist jetzt aber vor einem Comeback auf Xbox Live Arcade (und wohl auch WiiWare und PSN). Demnach wird im kommenden Frühjahr ein neues Bonk-Spiel in Download-Forml veröffentlicht werden. Der Hersteller verspricht u.a. einen Koop-Modus (auch online), neue Extras und Möglichkeiten, Bonk zu verwandeln, und natürlich frische Gegner. Das Gameplay soll sich aber am Original orientieren.

Ebenfalls in der Pipeline befindet sich wohl ein neuer Abkömmling einer Serie, die sich nicht ganz so rar gemacht hat wie Bonk: Bomberman Live Battlefest dürfte in nicht allzu ferner Zukunft auf WiiWare, XBLA und PSN auftauchen und mit frischen Inhalten aufwarten. Ein entsprechender Hinweis wurde von Hudon mittlerweile wieder entfernt - war aber zu jenem Zeitpunkt bereits bemerkt worden. So soll es Team-Modi für die bis zu acht Teilnehmer geben, auch frische Items wie Cluster- und Laser-Bomben sind angedacht. Im Falle der XBLA-Fassung dürfen auch Avatare importiert werden.


VIP
Protect the VIP! Two teams of four each have one VIP on their squad. Unfortunately, the VIP is so important, they can't set any bombs! You'll have to work together to defend with your other team mates who must escort the VIP to a designated point at the other end of the arena.

Capture the Flag
The classic multiplayer game is here in full form! Both teams have a flag so both teams will need to both attack and defend their flags as well. Coordinate effectively as a team to come out on top! It's CTF, Bomberman style!

Capture the Crown
First appearing in Bomberman Blast, Capture the Crown makes a triumphant return! Players start on the edges of the arena with one crown in the middle. The player who is able to hold onto the crown the longest wins!

Bankroll
It's points for power-ups! Players earn points for bombing other players, destroying blocks, and so on. The twist? Destroying blocks rarely yields a power-up. At the end of each match, you'll trade in your points gained for power-ups in the menu in between matches. Bomb wisely!
