Die Verleihung der Golden Joystick Awards im Londoner Hilton Hotel fand dieses Jahr bereits zum 25. Mal statt. Bei Großbritanniens ältester und populärster Videospiele-Preisverleihung wurden knapp 750.000 Stimmen abgegeben - über 200.000 mehr als im letzten Jahr. Größter Abräumer war Epics Gears of War mit insgesamt vier Awards, darunter auch der für das Spiel des Jahres. Jeweils zwei Auszeichnungen gab es für Guitar Hero II und Nintendo .
