Nominierungen stehen fest; Anwärter auf das "Spiel des Jahres" sind Bloodborne, Fallout 4, Ori and the Blind Forest, Rise of the Tomb Raider und The Witcher 3
Die Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences hat die Spiele bekanntgegeben , die für die D.I.C.E. Awards nominiert wurden. Die Auszeichnungen werden im Rahmen des D.I.C.E. Summits (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) am 18. Februar 2016 verliehen. Die von einigen Leuten gerne als "Oscars der Spielebranche" bezeichnete Auszeichnung wird bereits zum 19. Mal vergeben. Die nominierten Spiele wurden von diversen "Expertengruppen" festgelegt. Fortan dürfen die Mitglieder der Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences über die Gewinner entscheiden.
Für die Auszeichnung "Spiel des Jahres" wurden Bloodborne, Fallout 4, Ori and the Blind Forest, Rise of the Tomb Raider und The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt nominiert. Sowohl The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt als auch Rise of the Tomb Raider sind für Preise in jeweils acht Kategorien vorgeschlagen worden. Satoru Iwata (ehemaliger Chef von Nintendo) wird posthum für sein Lebenswerk ausgezeichnet und Hideo Kojima wird in die "Hall of Fame" aufgenommen.
