Jeder, der ein Abonnement für Star Trek Online (ab 12,50€ bei kaufen) abgeschlossen hatte (auch nur der Freimonat zählt), kann sich fortan kostenlos (also ohne monatliche Gebühren) in das Spiel einloggen und zwar knapp eineinhalb Wochen vor der endgültigen Umstellung auf das Free-to-play-Modell am 17. Januar. Somit bekommen ehemalige Spieler früheren Zugriff auf das Onlinespiel. Der bisherige Account wird dann automatisch auf "Silver" umgestellt (wir berichteten).
