Version 1.1 von Kerbal Space Program (ab 9,99€ bei kaufen) kann im Beta-Bereich bei Steam getestet werden (Zugang: Rechte Maustaste auf das Spiel in der Steam-Liste -> Eigenschaften -> Betas). Mit Patch 1.1 wird das Spiel auf die Version 5 der Unity-Engine umgestellt. Bessere Performance, schnellere Ladezeiten und 64-Bit-Unterstützung werden u.a. versprochen. Ansonsten haben die Entwickler die Benutzeroberfläche überarbeitet und diverse Detailverbesserungen vorgenommen. Bei Reddit (Kerbal Space Program 1.1 Megathread) wurden einige der Verbesserungen folgendermaßen zusammengefasst:

• The game will be running on Unity 5, allowing for much better performance, and 64-bits support
• Also, much quicker loading time
• And better performance
• Orbits in the map view now show in which direction the craft is moving in a very slick way.
• The staging UI has been redone
• The settings menu has been redone
• Hovering over a Kerbal's portrait now shows skill and level
• You now have a search bar in the VAB and SPH, that even understands descriptions like "orange fuel tank"
• Wheels work a lot better now, with traction control and everything
• Fairings can now deploy as a clamshell, and in as many sections as you want
• They've added an inflatable heat shield
• They've added the Asteroid Day parts (official mod) to the stock game. All parts, except for the camera.
• The KSPedia has been added, which allows you to access a TON of information about rocket design, space travel, and much more
• You can now look into capsules and cockpits (if you want)
