Die Gerüchteküche brodelt wieder kräftig, denn das britische Spiele-Magazin PSM3 berichtet (schon seit einiger Zeit) über die Entwicklung eines neuen God of War-Titels. Basierend auf einer - ihrer Ansicht nach - seriösen (anonymen) Quelle und konkreten Stellenausschreibungen für ein neues God of War bei Sony Santa Monica soll das bisher nicht offiziell angekündigte Spiel im nächsten Jahr erscheinen. Gleichermaßen wird über einen möglichen kooperativen Mehrspieler-Modus (online) spekuliert, in dem unter Umständen Kratos und Deimos gemeinsam aus der Unterwelt fliehen müssen.

"Following mounds of speculative rumors regarding the next entry in the God of  War franchise, UK gaming magazine PSM3 has weighed in and reported that God of War IV could possibly feature online multiplayer co-op, in the form of a plot-line involving Kratos and brother Deimos attempting to escape from the afterlife. (...) Why is it hot? It's bringing double kratos to the series. GOW 4 was confirmed to PSM3 mid-2011 by a reliable source, and rumours point to a multiplayer twist."
