Gegenüber EDGE musste SCEE-Präsident und CEO Jim Ryan eingestehen, dass in Europa der Streaming-Dienst Gaikai vorerst nicht für die PlayStation 4 (ab 1,29€ bei kaufen) angeboten wird. Grund seien Probleme mit der Breitband-Anbindung, auf die Ryan aber nicht konkret einging.

In Amerika will Sony den Service Anfang 2014 anbieten. Mit ihm soll es u.a. möglich werden, PS3-Inhalte auf die PlayStation 4 zu streamen. Später sollen auch Vita und die PS3 folgen. Aufgrund der Probleme gibt es derzeit keinen Starttermin für Europa. Dies sei auch der Grund dafür gewesen, dass man das Thema "Gaikai" auf der gamescom im Rahmen der Pressekonferenz nicht angesprochen hat.

"So the plan is to begin with North America next year and the plan is to provide a streaming service that will allow for PS3 content initially to be streamed to firstly PS4 then PS Vita and then PS3". 

"And so that will happen in 2014 in North America initially. Now, and I touched upon these issues of broadband in Europe during the presentation - Europe is of course on the roadmap for that service to be deployed at some point in the future, but for reasons outside of our control we don't yet have a timeline for it."
