Futuremark, die Benchmark-Entwickler aus Finnland, haben den 3DMark 11 offiziell enthüllt. Der Benchmark (Leistungstest des PCs) basiert auf einer eigens programmierten Grafik-Engine mit nativer DirectX 11-Unterstützung und soll die Rechner wiederum an ihre Leistungsschwelle bringen. Zudem scheint Futuremark auf das Feedback zum 3DMark Vantage  reagiert zu haben und kündigt bereits an, dass der 3DMark 11 mehrfach kostenlos genutzt werden kann (multiple-run free edition). Neben ersten Screenshots ist außerdem ein Video herausgegeben worden, das die DirectX 11-Engine in Aktion zeigt. Im Herbst 2010 soll der Benchmark veröffentlicht werden.
Deep Sea is a demonstration of DirectX 11 technologies created using an early development build of the 3DMark 11 engine. The Deep Sea trailer features submersibles exploring the sea floor. Volumetric lighting illuminates the seabed with tessellation used to add rich detail to the rock, coral and manmade structures. Post processing delivers depth of field and other lens effects. The music is an original composition.
