4Players: Did you always want to write music for games, Mr. Kondo?

Kondo: Actually when I was at university I didn't even think of the possibility of doing gaming music as a job. So I imagined I would be in a studio as a mixing engineer or studio musican – this was the job I thought I might be doing in the future. So the idea to create music for games came with an advert, where Nintendo was looking for staff at university. This really fit with things I wanted to do and so I applied.

4Players: Cooperative game modes are getting more important in todays gaming world. Have you ever thought of implementing such a mode in Zelda games?

Aonuma: Definitely. I'm thinking of multiplayer elements – it could be via online connection or two controller, two people. This is something I'm definitely considering and I want this multiplayer experience r

eally to be typical Zelda. It has to be really special and it has to really work. And people have to feel they're in the Zelda universe.

4Players: But do you think Zelda should be a singleplayer experience in the first place?

Aonuma: All of the major Zelda titles have been mainly singleplayer modes. But I don't think this is a deciscion we would neccessarily have to keep. If there's a good reason to have a full multiplayer in the game and it works and it makes sense there is no reason not to do it.

4Players: With the Wii U coming next year: What will the future of the Legend of Zelda series be like and what will it sound like?

Aonuma: From my point of view the Wii U has a lot of possibilities. With Skyward Sword we are really using the full potention of Wii MotionPlus and the console and I think that worked very well. And also for the future we will keep the Wii MotionPlus sort of control. On top of that we have the new controller from Wii U. And I think this is something we will have to work on very intensively to see what we can do with this thing, what kind of playstyle and things we can do. How can we use this controller as a tool? This will one of the main focus points of the future development for the Wii U.

Kondo: I think with Wii U there are things that will not change. We always want the music to be easy to remeber. We want it to fit the atmosphere of the game. So this will not change. But I think the new controller has a lot of potential for new interactive music content. So maybe new input methods, new instruments that you could operate using the controller. I think this is the potential and I hope that we will be able to realize something of that.

4Players: Thank you very much.
