Wurden dem Gamecube noch vier Mario Party-Spiele spendiert, musste die Wii bisher mit Mario Party 8 vorliebnehmen. Mit Mario Party 9 (ab 91,99€ bei kaufen) soll in diesem Jahr dann doch noch ein weiterer Vertreter der Serie folgen, zu dem zwar schon einige Bewegtbilder, aber noch nicht allzu viele Infos vorlagen.

Dass Mario & Co. neuerdings auch Fahrzeuge über die Spielfelder pilotieren, bei denen die Spieler abwechselnd ans Steuer dürfen, war bereits dem E3-Trailer zu entnehmen. Laut einer Produktseite beim US-Händler Best Buy wird das Party-Spiel außerdem am Ende eines Abschnitts mit einem Boss-Kampf aufwarten, in dem die vier Protagonisten gemeinsam größere Fieslinge besiegen müssen. Auch werden über 80 neue Mini-Spiele und diverse zusätzliche Features versprochen, in denen kompetitive und kooperative Elemente gemischt werden sollen.
