Sengoku Jidai: Shadow of the Shogun befördert den Spieler in die Wirren einiger ostasiatischer Kriegsherde des 16. Jahrhunderts. Ein wichtiger Schauplatz in der Rundenstrategie von Jayson Ng, Richard Bodley Scott und Slitherine ist der japanische Bürgerkrieg: Die Shogun-Familie hat die Kontrolle über das Land verloren, was zu zahlreichen lokalen Schlachten zur Machterweiterung führt. In China schwindet derweil die Macht der Ming-Dynastie aufgrund von Rebellionen und Einfällen aus dem Ausland - und auch in Korea mangelt es nicht an Konfliktpotenzial. Ein wichtiges Thema des Spiels ist laut Pressemitteilung die japanische Invasion Koreas.

Der Spieler übernimmt die Kontrolle über wechselnde Armeen in historischen Schlachten und alternativen "Was-wäre-wenn"-Konstellationen. Gekämpft wird wahlweise gegen die KI oder andere Spieler. Im Rahmen der übergeordneten Kampagne muss man sich nach den einzelnen Schlachten auf die veränderten Machtkonstellationen einstellen. Das Spiel erscheint am 19. Mai als Download-Titel für den PC.

Each faction has multiple lists covering the development of their armies through the 16th and 17th centuries.

  • In skirmishes players can pick their armies from the army list or allow the computer to pick the army for them.
  • Effective AI makes sound tactical decisions. Historical battle AI customised to the historical tactical situation.
  • 6 difficulty levels allow the challenge to increase as you develop your battlefield skills.
  • Numerous different unit organisations, combat capabilities and tactical doctrines allow full representation of tactical differences and developments through the period.
  • Mod friendly game system with built-in map editor.
  • Multiplayer mode allows historical scenarios and “what-if” scenarios to be played by two players using Slitherine’s easy to use PBEM server."

Das Ashikaga Shogunat war ab 1477 bedeutungslos, durch den Onin Krieg (1467). Machteinbußen hatte das Shogunat schon in den 1440ern. Oda Nobunaga hat aus reinem Opportunismus die Ashikaga unterstuetzt, aber eben nur zeitweilig und am Ende sogar abgesetzt.
Verstehe daher nicht den Saz, daß das Shogunat immer mehr an Macht verliere, wenn es im 16.Jahrhundert keine mehr hatte, Wenn die schon so akkurat sein wollen :)
