Anlässlich ihres zehnten Geburtstages (siehe News) wird die PlayStation mit einem Emmy  für außergewöhnliche Leistungen in der Technologie und den neuen Medien ausgezeichnet. Die Jury sieht die Konsole als Pionier in der auf Polygonen basierenden 3D-Spielerfahrung und so wird Kaz Hirai, CEO von Sony Computer Entertainment America, den Preis heute im Rahmen der 57 th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards in Princeton entgegen nehmen.
