Scott Cawthon hat Wort gehalten und Five Nights At Freddy's World nach der Entfernung bei Steam inzwischen wie angekündigt kostenlos auf der Indie-Download-Plattform Game Jolt veröffentlicht . Dabei handelt es sich um die aktualisierte und erweiterte Fassung mit vielen neuen Features wie der umgestalteten Oberwelt. Weitere Updates des Rollenspiels sollen folgen.

Gestern noch entschuldigte sich Entwickler Scott Cawthon dafür, Five Nights At Freddy's World zu früh und unfertig veröffentlicht zu haben. Jetzt hat er nach Angaben von VG247 den Steam-Betreiber Valve darum gebeten, das Spiel komplett von der Online-Plattform zu entfernen und sämtlichen Spielern den kompletten Kaufpreis zu erstatten - unabhängig davon, wie lange sie den Titel bereits gespielt haben.

Trotz überwiegend positiver Resonanz auf den Rollenspiel-Ableger ist Cawthon nach eigener Aussage unzufrieden mit den bisherigen Bewertungen und möchte lieber noch etwas Zeit in Updates investieren, um das Spiel aufzumöbeln bzw. komplett fertigzustellen. Unter anderem plant er eine 3D-Oberwelt hinzuzufügen.

Sobald er fertig ist, möchte Cawthon Five Nights At Freddy's World fortan kostenlos anbieten. So kündigt er bereits an, nach der Fertigstellung des Updates die kostenlose Demo auf Game Jolt, einer Download-Plattform für Indie-Spiele, durch die Vollversion zu ersetzen.

Hier das Statement im Original: "Hi everyone, I wanted to make a post about the fate of FNaF World. Even though the game had a “Very Positive” rating with 87%, I was not satisfied with the reviews and ratings it was getting.

“For that reason, I’ve decided to remove the game from Steam. I’ve also asked Valve to make it so that the game can be refunded regardless of the amount of the time it has been owned, meaning that anyone can get a refund at any time. It may take them a while to set that up, but it will be in place soon.

“I’m still going to work on FNaF World and polish it up. I’m busy creating a fully 3D overworld for the game. When I’m ready to update the game, I will replace the demo currently on GameJolt with the full game. From this point forward, the game will always be free.

“I appreciate your support, and I encourage you all to refund your Steam game (even if you enjoyed the game), and download the new version when it becomes available on GameJolt. :)"
